Project Description

Infrastructure project that includes the construction of a right-in, right-out access to the Eagle Bypass (State Highway 44) from the north, opposite the existing southerly access, to include construction of acceleration and deceleration lanes along the north side of the bypass and a public road connection from State Highway 44 to E. Plaza Drive.  The project includes the relocation and reconstruction of New Union Ditch Company facilities located within the project limits.

For over 20-years, the Palmetto Road extension has been a project indicated in the transportation plan for the City of Eagle. This project was contemplated at the time the Eagle bypass was constructed.  Due to the roadway classification as a collector and not as an arterial, it is unlikely the Ada County Highway District would have completed this project. Therefore, it was left to Developer and urban renewal dollars to complete this road.

As reported in the 2019 and 2020 annual reports, the EURA assisted in the completion of this critical road connection for the Eagle community.  The connection has proven to help relieve ongoing traffic issues, to support economic development efforts in downtown, and will provide alternative traffic flow during future planned road construction.

Construction for the connection occurred in 2020. By December 2020, the roadway project was completed with the exception of the landscape portion due to weather conditions. The landscaping was successfully in place by mid-spring and the project was closed out in May 2021.
